Mr. C. M. Goethe,
Capital National Bank Building,
Seventh and J Streets,
Sacramento 14, California.
Dear Mr. Goethe,
Thank you for your letter of June 23rd, and the copy of Geogardening received a few days ago.
As you perhaps know I have spent a total of over four years since 1935 in plant exploration in South America, principally on the West Coast. Therefore I was particularly interested in the chapters in Geogardening dealing with South American species and the quite remarkable photographs which they contain. These photographs bring back vividly to my remembrance our months in the Peruvian highlands and the wonderful lake region of southern Chile.
I am enclosing two reprints of rather popular articles on our South American experiences together with a brief description of the Botanical Garden in Berkeley. I hope that they will have some interest for you. You might also care to look up my book, Plant Hunters in the Andes, which I think would be available in your local libraries.
With thanks again and with all good wishes,
Cordially yours,
