Dr. John M. Fogg, Jr., Director

Dear Jack:
I am sure that your European trip was very enjoyable and most
rewarding. The approach to horticulture in Europe has a somewhat
different slant from the United States, but yet much can be learned
from observing the research as well as the commercial practices.
Thank you for forwarding photographs of Viburnum buddleifolium
and V. sieboldii. Dr. Allison has had the same difficulty photographing
these plants that I encountered. As the plants are rather closely
planted, it is hard to obtain specimen photographs without having
portions of the plant over lighted, and others deeply shaded.
The photographs forwarded, I am afraid will not be sharp enough
for reproduction as plate size, but I am glad to have these for inclusion
in the research files. Should you at some later date obtain sharp
photographs of these specimens, I would greatly appreciate prints of
the same.
With best wishes,
Sincerely yours,
Donald R. Egolf
