Herbarium. A collection of dried plants; an herbarium
mainly Cassidories died AD 575 (Lewin, 1846)
Last he exclaims, "Be our health. The same as Erica ornat, it is in any case a pretty & study white shrub,
beset with numerous brown rounded branches, which
are clothed all over with small green leaves; & its
appearance is like that of the sweet-smelling Lavender
Cotton."
Clusius The Belgian(1526-1609) was the first man to
emancipate himself entirely from those hairsplitting
controversies, she also abandoned the utilitarian standpoint.
Just as he home he published his herbal, collections &
dried plants began to be made. Clusius was the first
man who travelled for Botanical purposes. He
roamed over Europe from the Sierras of Spain to the
lands of Hungary, from the seacoast to the highland
of the Tyrol.
Linnaeus(1707-1778) sifted arranged the chaotic
mass of material that had been accumulated. The
Linnaean system took immediate possession of the
civilised world. Linnaean botany was recommended,
especially in ladies, as a harmless pastime, not overeating
to the mind.
