Exchange Program
Through the medium of exchange of duplicate specimens the Museum is able to provide more cosmopolitan comparison material for study and research than otherwise would be possible.
During the past five years the Geology Section of the Museum has engaged in an intensive exchange program with the following institutions abroad:
The University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa
The University of Lyon, France
The University of Ferrara, Italy
The Sabadell Museum near Barcelona, Spain.
As a result the Museum has acquired excellent material of mammal-like reptiles and small Pleistocene mammals from Africa; Oligocene and Miocene mammals from France; Pleistocene material from Italy; and Oligocene, Miocene, Pliocene, and Pleistocene specimens from Spain.
The Herbarium carries on active exchanges with over 100 institutions including most of the major herbaria in the world. In this way institutions receive material of interest to them and are made aware of interests common to both them and ourselves. The following is a list of foreign institutions with which exchanges are in progress. Additional private individuals are also sent exchange specimens.
