Dear Dave:
I wonder if you would be in a position to help me and Oswald Tippo. We are in the final stages of preparing a general botany textbook for the non-science major. Our outlook is humanistic and cultural and, therefore, we place considerable emphasis on the relationships between plants and man. We would like very much to illustrate manihot as one of man's important food plants and we need good photographic material. Would you have any black-and-white or sharp color transparencies of the entire plant and close-ups of the basal parts showing the mass of root tubers? We would be quite willing to prepare our own prints from any originals you might have and to return these to you immediately. Naturally, we would be happy to reimburse you for any out-of-pocket expenses you might incur and to acknowledge your help in print. If you can help us, we will be very grateful.
Sincerely yours,
William Louis Stern
