Dear Professor Jepson,
I am planning to have my second volume of the Illustrated Flora ready for the press early in the autumn. This will include the Choripetalae from the Polygonaceae on, and also the Sympetalae up to and including the Primulaceae.
Please let me know how you are getting along with the Eriogomeae, and when you would like to discuss the question of illustrations. I have on hand quite a number of drawings of Eriogonum, Chorizanthe etc, but by no means all of them.
I am deeply sorry that I missed your Research lecture. Every one speaks very highly of it. I congratulate you on the honor and especially on the credit you have brought to systematic botany.
Cordially yours,
[Signature]
P.S. On account of the requirement of a Latin description I am not publishing new species in the Flora, so if you have any new species or subspecies in the groups you are contributing I suggest that you take care of their initial publication in Madrono. Of course there need be no especially hurry, for it will take several months for the volume to go through the press, after I get every thing assembled and submitted.
