Dear Dr. Rudd:
In connection with pollen studies in the Papilionatae being conducted here at the University of Texas, I am working on a dissertation involving the pollen morphology of the tribe Phaseaeae. My work also includes developmental studies, and Dr. Larson is carrying on a parallel Electron Microscope study.
I understand from Dr. Marshall Johnston that you are working on the taxonomy of this group. I wonder if you could advise me of the sections and generic inclusions of this tribe. If so, would you send me this information. Also, could you give me any help in obtaining pollen material. We have some collections from the Chicago Museum of Natural History. If you can give me any aid in obtaining material, I will send you a list of the specimens I have on hand to avoid duplication.
Dr. Larson advises me that any information obtained from this study will be available to you with the understanding that its primary function is as a dissertation.
Any assistance that you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
W. D. McBryde
