Dear Dr. Popencoe:
I have a fine 14 X 20 inch photograph of "Wilson Popencoe, Plant Explorer". This must have been taken no fewer than 60 years ago but I have no idea where except that the tree used for a background looks like it might be aguacaste. You are mounted on a white horse and have a black pack mule loaded with two "box" panniers with stuff piled on top.
If you or any of your youngsters might like to have it I shall be glad to ship it to wherever you may indicate.
Quite a log time ago a note went to you sounding you out on YOU preparing an article on the horticultural aspects of avocados. The suggestion was that this and one that I might complete on the systematics might both go in the same journal at the same time.
Working on Eupatorium. Guatemala has something more than 80 of the some 500 species and they are difficult. We have been collecting these things every time that we saw them for the last ten years and I guess that we must have some 500 "new" collections.
Don't know whether we will get to the tropics coming winter or not. Rua is having problem with her back and if that does not clear we will not leave the states.
Molina is coming for a couple months, possibly September-October if I can find the money to bring him. Think that I can.
Regards to youboth,
Louis
